It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mr. Walter McFarland.
Mr. McFarland entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at McLeod Hospice House In Florence, SC.
Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Walter McFarland, age 83, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC.
Walter was born on May 17, 1941, in Darlington, South Carolina. Walter is the son of the late Vermelle Sanders McFarland and Arthur McFarland. He is preceded in death by his daughter Gloria McFarland Brisbon, and siblings: Rosa Lee Simon, Ethel Mae Williams, Joe Louis McFarland, Roosevelt McFarland, Pete McFarland, Vermelle McFarland, Levern McFarland, Emma Lee Brown, Robert Lee McFarland and Rudel McFarland.
Walter attended Rosenwald High School. He was employed with Nucor Steel for over 30 years until he retired. Walter had a love for baseball. He loved going to the baseball games throughout the Pee Dee.
Walter was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He cherished moments spent with his family.
Those left to cherish and hold loving memories of Walter is his loving wife, Mattie McFarland of Darlington, SC and his daughter Jeanette (Eddie) Workman of Darlington, SC. Mae (Troy) Sellers of Hartsville, SC and Ilene (Rodney) Davis of Florence, SC.
Three loving sisters: Autherine McFarland and Barbara Ann Zimmerman of Darlington, SC and Mary Ann Williams of Dovesville, SC. Three loving brothers: Monroe McFarland of Society Hill, SC, Levern McFarland and Leroy McFarland of Darlington, SC.
Six grandchildren: Antonio McFarland, Antwain Brown, TyRek Workman, and Lakia McFarland of Darlington, SC and Gerod McDowell and Gladys McDowell of Hartsville, SC.
Three great-grandchildren: Shadiamond Brown, Kylei Workman, and Londyn McAllister and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be dearly missed by his extended family and many friends.
Walter’s legacy of love, kindness and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
