Martha Phillips Kind

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Martha Phillips Kind. 

Mrs. Kind passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at her residence in Hartsville, SC.

The family will receive friends at: 1410 Myrtle Street, Hartsville, SC. 

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

Mrs. Martha Phillips Kind was born September 29, 1962, in Hartsville, SC, the daughter of the late Isiah Phillips, Jr. and Betty L. Roary Phillips. She gained her wings on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at her residence with family by her side. Heaven has truly gained an angel. 

Martha was educated in the public schools of Darlington County. 

For many years, Martha worked at Sara Lee Hosiery and Galey & Lord. She also tutored at Washington Street Elementary School and The Boys and Girls Club. She loved arts and crafts, making jewelry, attending sporting events and putting together puzzles.

Martha was a dedicated member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She served with grace as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Choir Member and Usher. 

Her heart was exquisite! She was genuine, loving, kind, compassionate and generous. An awe-inspiring soul is what she was. She was the joy; she was the light, and she was the LOVE that will continue to live through her loved ones. 

Preceding Martha in death is her father, The Late Isiah Phillips, Jr. 
Left to cherish her memories are: her husband, John Kind; mother, Betty L. Roary Phillips; children: Kenyatta (Lamont) McDaniel, Latoya (Harry) Gillespie and Terrance Lucas; sisters: Patricia (Joe) Wright, Loretta (Reggie) Williams, Brenda Kelley and Beverly (Darrell) Kain; brothers: Samuel (Patricia) Phillips and Isiah (Michele) Phillips; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
