Mario Sanchez McDaniel

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mr. Mario McDaniel. 

Mr. McDaniel passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. 

The family will receive friends at the home of his mother:

1301 S. 5th Street, Apt. A2, Hartsville, SC.  

All services are entrusted to Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

Mario Sanchez McDaniel, affectionately known as “Chief,” was born in Darlington County on September 5, 1982, to Harold and Dorothy W. McDaniel.

Our beloved Mario departed this life on October 28, 2024, in Florence, South Carolina. His sudden and unexpected passing has left a widespread void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Mario never met a stranger. He was truly the life of the party everywhere he went. Whether he was making jokes or talking trash, there was never a dull moment when he was around.

Mario had a love for football, basketball, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed doing all these things with his family. Playing pool and cooking were also his hobbies. “Chief” as he was sometimes called had a deep love for his children as well as his nieces and nephew who he considered his.

 Mario is survived by: his sons, Amaurion McDaniel and Mario McDaniel, Jr. both of Hartsville, SC; daughters, Tamari Thomas of Hartsville, SC and Malaya McDaniel of Columbia, SC; mother, Dorothy W. McDaniel of Hartsville, SC; grandmothers, Annie B. Wilson of Hartsville, SC and Bernice Hamlin of New York; brothers: Rodriquez L. Wilson, Clifton Washington and James McDaniel, all of Hartsville, SC; sisters, Denise (Kevin) Peterson and Shemeka Wilson, both of Hartsville, SC; aunts: Priscilla W. Price, Vanessa Caine, Barbara (Kendrick) Bramble, Theresa Johnson, Eleanor Sowells, Mary McDaniel, Judy McDaniel, Malinda (Lamar) McDaniel, Michelle McDaniel and Adrian McDaniel, all of Hartsville, SC and April McDaniel of Atlanta, GA; uncles: James (Janie) McDaniel, Nelson (Teresa) McDaniel, Terry (Lorraine) McDaniel and Wayne (Jasmine) McDaniel, all of Hartsville, SC and Walter and Randy McDaniel of Columbia, SC; special cousins/brothers: Tetus Wilson, Marquise Pendergrass, Daniel Perkins, and Chris Coe; 36 nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
