We regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Malachi Lester, Jr. of Meriden,Connecticut.

Mr. Lester passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Malachi Lester, Jr. was born in Hartsville, South Carolina on July 25, 1970, to the late Elder Malachi Lester, Sr. and Evangelist Annie Lester. On June 8, 2024, Malachi quietly slipped away from this earthly life. 

 Malachi received his primary and secondary education in Darlington County School District, where he graduated with the Hartsville High School Class of 1988. In high school, Malachi thoroughly enjoyed playing basketball and football with the Red Foxes, most noted for winning the state championship in 1988. In 1990, Malachi relocated to Meriden, Connecticut where he worked at Napier Company and the Department of Transportation.

 His hobbies included playing pool in the O’Brien’s Pub league, where he won plaques and trophies, watching the Dallas Cowboys and watching movies. As a movie critic, there were no movies that he has not seen. On Sundays, he enjoyed his worship experience and watching football. 

 Malachi is the epitome of a good man. Malachi was a nice, humble, generous soul who loved having fun. He touched the lives of so many through his humor. Malachi always made jokes and would make you laugh in any situation. Malachi’s contagious humor will truly be missed. 

From birth, his parents instilled in him the love of God which continued at Apostolic Pentecostal Assembly Church in Meriden, Connecticut under the leadership of the late Pastor Loretta Kemp and the late Pastor Doris Rivers. 

 Malachi was preceded in death by his devoted father, Elder Malachi Lester, Sr. 

 Malachi is survived by his loving daughter, Ms. Shanell Lester, his faithful mother, Evangelist Annie Lester; three sisters, Ms. Carol Lester, Dr. Phedrian (Patrick) Alexander, Latasha (Arthur) Cox; two brothers: Mr. Fred Lester, Mr. Stanley (Eartha) Lester; two granddaughters, Ny’Robii and Naziah Martinez and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives. 

 Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, June 21st from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. A Celebration of Life will follow at 6:30 pm. Burial will be private. For online condolences, please visit jferryfh.com.
