It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ms. Leslie Ann Linton Newton.  

Ms. Newton passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at her residence with her family by her side 

The family will receive friends at:  

831 11th. Street, McBee, SC. 

 

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

Our beloved, Mrs. Leslie Ann Linton Newton has completed the race that God had for her. Leslie was born March 13, 1963 in Hartsville SC (Darlington County) to Loren Sutton and Sarah Lee Linton. She departed this earthly life and entered eternal rest Monday, January 27, 2025. We rejoice because heaven is receiving a woman with a golden heart.

Leslie was educated in the public schools of McBee SC where she learned the basic educational necessities. She was a graduate of McBee High School Class of 1982. Upon completion of high school, Leslie attended Claflin College.

Leslie was employed by the town of McBee. She was the Clerk at McBee Town Hall.

Leslie was an active member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She was a faithful servant of God.

In Leslie’s free time, she enjoyed watching basketball, playing games, completing puzzles, cooking devil eggs and sweet potato pies. She also found pleasure in and loved passing time sitting at Seaway.

Leslie was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her.

Leslie was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah Lee Linton and Loren Sutton, Sr; Cora Lee Robinson (grandmother); Willie Robinson, Sr (grandfather); Cherita Linton (sister); Johnny Wayne Robinson (brother); Harold Toney, Jr (nephew); Justin Wilson (great nephew); and DeMari Amonte McPhail (great-great nephew).

Surviving to cherish the fond memories of Leslie are her: son, LaDarius Ahmad Newton; step-daughters, Samantha Newton and Lateisha Newton; step-son, Andre Newton; adopted daughter, Sade Robinson; god-daughter, Natalie Moses; grandchildren, Samiya Newton, NaZiya Smith, Tyriek Newton, Nadia Smith, Khaliya Newton, Ayanna Newton, Shaqville Bouknight Sr; Armani Williams; great-grandchildren, Asharia Bouknight, Shaqville Bouknight Jr; Shaquilla Bouknight, Kair Newton, Zayleigh Williams, and Nassiah Samuel; brothers, Don (Reta) Robinson Sr; Carey (Denise) Linton, Raeford (Cynthia) Linton, James (Vickie) Linton, Charlie (Dorothy) Sutton, all of McBee, SC; David (Laflabia) Linton of Charlotte, NC and Loren Sutton, Jr of Columbia, SC; sisters, Phyllis Oliver of Cheraw, SC; Barbara Toney of Darlington, SC; Nola Alford, Marlene (Billy) Scott, and Patricia Murphy, all of McBee, SC; Mertis (James) Boone of Bishopville, SC; her; special friends, Wendy Moses (more like a sister), James and Michelle Smith, Sue Murphy, Bernessa Wright and Rick Peoples; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.

Leslie will always be remembered not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
