We regret to announce the passing of Mr. James Hicks.
Mr. Hicks passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at MUSC in Florence, SC.
The family will receive friends at 134 Sumter Street, Hartsville, SC.
Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

Today, we celebrate the Life of Mr. James Walker Hicks, born December 27, 1937 in Darlington County, SC to the proud parents of The Late Rev. Samuel E. and The Late Mattie E. Hicks. On June 29, 2024, early Saturday morning he transitioned from his earthly home and entered into eternal rest.
James graduated from Darlington County Schools. He met the love of his life Gladys M. Williams and they were married April 30, 1960, 1338 Prospect Avenue, Bronx, New York. And to this union five children were born. Later in life they relocated to Hartsville, SC. James was an entrepreneur and was self-employed.
James was a great provider, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his family. He also served his country in the United States Army.
Preceded him in death was his parents, his wife Gladys M. Hicks, his daughter Sophia U. Hicks, his siblings: Junius, Rachel, Woodrow, Odessa, Juanita, Millard, and Mary Hicks.
Surviving to cherish his memories are his children: Ramona (Willie) Hamrick of Columbia, SC; Raymond W. Hicks of Hartsville, SC; Janara Gail ( Keith) Holmes of Jacksonville, Fla.; and FiFi L. Hicks of Hartsville, SC.; Five grandchildren: Ashley (Stephen) McLaughlin, Porcha Diacle Hicks, Jelisa Shavon Hicks all of Jacksonville, Fla; Geoffrey Jamal Hamrick of Columbia, SC and Iesha Shanell Hicks of Myrtle Beach, SC.; Great-grand children: Brandon Jr., Stephen Jr, Chevonne, Jace, Phai, Jkai, Joshua, Cameron, Nyla and Kayden.
Siblings: Paul (Royesther-Dollbaby) Hicks of Fla., and Mattie Lou Hicks of Greensboro, NC; Brother-in-laws: Elder George Wingate Jr. of Hartsville, SC and Zachary Williams Jr of Columbia, SC.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends.
