Herbert Wesley Henderson

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Herbert (Bobby) Wesley Henderson. 

Mr. Henderson passed away on Friday January 3, 2025, at his residence. 

The family will receive friends at the home of his son John Pough :

1706 White Drive, Hartsville, SC.   

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all time also, that love his appearing.”

Mr. Herbert Wesley Henderson was born August 05, 1937, in Darlington County. “Bobby” as he was affectionately known was the son of the late John and Janie Henderson Green.

He received his education in Darlington County Public Schools and was a member of Round O Missionary Baptist Church. He worked many years at Clayton Auto in Darlington, SC.

On Friday, January 03, 2025 in Hartsville, South Carolina he departed this life after a brief illness. All struggles, pain and concerns of this world ceases and the tranquility and serenity of rest have now replaced soul with rest.

Bobby will be missed by many. He was loving, kind and enjoyed taking care of his family. He was very protected by his sons, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. He did whatever he had to make sure life was easy for them.

Those preceding him in death are his parents; wife Rebecca Henderson; stepson Arthur Pough, stepdaughter Ella Marie (Reese) Pough, grandsons Roosevelt Pough (grandson he raised) and Kieston Williams; siblings, John Green, Zell Gattison, Perry Gattison, Pinkney Gattison Jr., Robert Gattison, Alphonso Gattison, Carrie Graham, Dorothy Gattison and Mary (Bunch) Gattison.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his seven children, John (Michele) Pough, James Pough of Hartsville, SC; Bobby Pough, Karla Williams of Darlington, SC; Andrena Henderson, Linda Ann Henderson and Beverly (Oconel) Johnson all of Pennsylvania; daughter-in law Mary Pough of Darlington; stepson, Micheal (Marie) Mack; three brothers, Hawk (Shirley) Gattison, Anthony Red (Kay) Gattison, and Eddie (Lillie) Gattison all of Darlington; Three sisters, Deloris Gattison, Kitty Loretta Gattison, and Viola Brice all of Darlington; several grandchildren, two of which he reared as his own, Mandell (Kaesean) and Melinda; a special granddaughter Mechel’la (Meme) Pough; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Saddie Gattison of Darlington; Lula (Preston) Forman and Hattie White all of Brooklyn, NY; a special niece Janice Green of Columbia, SC; devoted in-laws, The Addison, Coit, Jamison, and McDonald Family; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
