Henry Blakney

It is with great sadness that we announce that Mr. Henry Blakney, 71, of Hartsville, SC passed away Friday, June 30, 2023 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC. 

The family will receive friends at 413 Lincoln Ave. Hartsville 

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC.

Mr. Henry “Bubba” Blakney, the son of late Izzell Blakney and the late Dorothy M. Osburne, was born on August 6, 1951 in Darlington County. He entered into eternal rest on June 30, 2023.

He attended school at Butler High School and was in the graduating class of 1971.

He was employed by Milliken and Springs in Lancaster, SC and was also a taxi cab driver at E+W Taxi before his illness.

Henry was married to Barbara Ann Blakney.

He loved watching racing. 

Henry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patsy Blakney; and brothers: George Vinson, Tommy McNeal and Maurice Blakney. 

Those left to cherish his loving memories are: his daughter, Kimberly (Demitri) Lunn; sons: Anthony (Larissa) Blakney of Orlando, Florida, Lamont Smith of Connecticut, Marcus (Karen) Martin of Darlington, SC and Richard (Demetrius) Martin of Hartsville, SC; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bobbie (Ernest) Richardson of Hartsville, SC; brothers: Jake (Teresa) McNeal of Bentonville, AR and Kenny (Phyllis) McNeal of Wilmington, NC; uncles: Henry Bryant of Florence, SC and Curtis Blakney of Hartsville, SC, Richard Brockington, James Brockington, Joe Brockington and Rodney Brockington; aunts: Virginia Brown of Hartsville, SC, Mary Brockington, and Pamala Venson; special friends: Ronnie Arnold, Albert Copeland, and Betty Robinson; sister-in-law, Ava McNeal; and a host of family and friends.
