It is with great sadness that we announce that Mr. Eugene Tedder, 87, of Darlington passed away today, Thursday, May 4, 2023 at MUSC in Florence.
The family will receive friends at 1149 Cedar Ridge Road, Darlington, SC. Visitation will be from 5 PM - 9 PM. Face masks must be worn.
Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC.
Bro. Eugene Tedder was born on January 9, 1936, in Darlington
County, SC. He was the seventh child of the late Mr. Monk and Mrs.
Nellie Tedder. He departed this life on May 4, 2023, at MUSC
hospital in Florence, SC. He was often called “Buck”, by his close
friends and family, and he will be lovingly remembered by those who knew him.
He was a graduate of Rosenwald High and was employed in this are
at various locations; as a logging truck driver, a worker at Klopman
Mills in Society Hill, and he retired from the Community Action
Agency of Darlington County.
He loved to sing, and he and his brothers had a gospel group called“The International Sons of Joy”, and he loved to pray.
He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and was a member of
The Church in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostles’ Doctrine, Inc.
He married Miss Juanita McKay in 1965 and to this union was
included six loving children.
Preceding him to the grave is a daughter, Lugenia Tedder and a
granddaughter, Tazmine Tedder, including his parents, Monk and
Nellie Tedder, and eight brothers and one sister.
He leaves behind his wife of the home: Sis. Juanita Tedder, children:
Eugene Jr. (Janet) Tedder, Mathis Tedder, Tony Bush, Sabrina
Peterson, Decarlos (Ushekia) Tedder, all of Darlington County. He
also leaves his grandchildren, Tempestt Dobson, Shiquita Peterson,
Harley Peterson, Shakerra Peterson, Tydarius Byrd, Xavies Tedder,
Jasmine Tedder, Shatazia Robinson, and Latazia Robinson. He
leaves three great-grandchildren; Adreion Reddick, Mahogany
Peterson and Josiah Peterson.
He leaves three sisters in law: Sis. Lucy (Charles) Jacobs; Lucille
McNeil and Carrie Tedder, all of Darlington County and he also leaves several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, including a large church family.
