Emma Benjamin

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ms. Emma Benjamin. 

Ms. Benjamin passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at her residence with her family by her side. 

The family will receive friends at: 

3305 East Old Camden Road, Society Hill, SC.  

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

“Do not fear, for am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you: I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”.

Emma Benjamin was born April 13, 1954 in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Julia Mae Benjamin and Luke Ketter. On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, Emma received her wings and went to walk with the angels.

Emma received her formal education at Rosenwald High School. After high school, Emma worked multiple jobs to support her family, including a Sewing Technician at Hartsville Manufacturer and a Chef at Johnnies. Emma was a member of New Hopewell Baptist Church.

Emma loved watching her favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. She cherished family time and gatherings, finding joy in being surrounded by loved ones. She also enjoyed playing cards and dancing.

Emma was preceded in death by: her lifelong companion, James Levern Smith, daughter, Tammy Wynette Lighty and her parents.

Those who will cherish and celebrate her life, legacy, and precious memories include: her daughter, Windy Davis; son, Monroe Benjamin; brothers: Felix Benjamin, Calvin Benjamin, Robert Benjamin, Terrell Borum, Noble Thomas, and Luke Ketter, Jr.; sisters: Mary Smith, Amanda Branhon, Lula Loyens, Anna Moultrie, Rosa Stokes, and Michelle Borum; nineteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.
