We regret to inform you of the passing of Mr. Chester Reed, Sr.
Mr. Reed passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, at his residence.
The family will receive friends at: 2712 Wesley Chapel Road, Lamar, SC.
Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.
“Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” John 14:1-2
Once more a human spirit has taken flight at the call of the Heavenly Father to the mansion prepared for him from the foundations of the earth by an all wise, loving, all knowing and just God. Mr. Chester Reed, Sr. answered his call on Monday, September 16, 2024.
Mr. Reed was born June 11, 1937 in Darlington County. He was the loving son of the late Sylvester Reed and Frankie Cosom.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Darlington County. He was a supervisor at Talley Metals Machinery where he retired after fifteen years of employment.
Chester was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. At his beloved church, he was instrumental and assisted with various projects such as Adopt the Highway Project, and Christmas in April Project. He was also the groundskeeper. Chester was a member of Usher Board Ministry and United Methodist Men.
Chester met and married the love of his life, Bernetha Mitchell Reed and to this union four children. Preceding Chester in death was his beloved wife, Bernetha Mitchell Reed; a daughter, Penny Reed; a grand son, Johnathan Reed Sisters; Daisy Garner, Laura Ruth Brown, Queen Esther Ross Brothers, Joe Nathan Tedder, Roosevelt Tedder, Hazel Murray, R.B. Murray and Jessie James Tedder.
Those who shared the joys and sorrows of life with him and survive to cherish his memories are his children: Levester Reed, Barbara Reed, and Chester (Lisha) Reed, Jr; a sister, Flora Ann Coe of Hartsville, SC; a sister-in-law Josephine Murray; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends. Rest in peace, Chester.
