Mr. Charles E. James, 80, of Hartsville, SC went to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 while at home with his family.
Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Charles E. James will be Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Kay Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Hartsville, SC.
The burial will follow at Florence National Cemetery in Florence, SC.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at 1608 N. Fifth St. in Hartsville, SC.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home.
All services are entrusted to Davis Funeral Home, LLC.

Charles James was born on May 10,1943 in Darlington County to the late Ervin and Willie Gracie James. On Wednesday August 30, 2023, Charles transitioned from this earthly life, finding peace with our Heavenly Father.
He was educated in the public schools of Darlington County and was a graduate of Butler High School, Class of 1961. He served in the U.S. Army as a Communication CTR Specialist receiving the Vietnam Service Medal (Rifle M1) and Marksman (Rifle M-14). He was employed for 30 years with Sonoco Products Company in the Paper Division Machinery. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized. He was a member of Kay Branch Missionary Baptist Church. He will forever be remembered as the man with a gentle spirit and kind heart. He shared and gave from his heart to many.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ervin and Willie Gracie Jones; sisters: Beulah Mae Thomas, Jestean James-Kent and Annie Delois Sutton.
Left to cherish his memories: of the home, a special niece, Wanda (Kenneth) Dawson, of Hartsville, SC; sons: Jeffery (Vanessa) Goodson of Darlington, SC and Eric (Tegge) Hough of Charlotte, NC; daughters: Tamika Holloman of Hartsville, SC and Renita Brunson of Charleston, SC; stepchildren: Michael McLeod, Charles McLeod, Allen McLeod, Anthony Bull, Amos Bull and Denise Bull; sisters: Lula Black of Dillion, SC and Geraldine Wright of Hartsville, SC; 3 brothers: Harold (Modestine) James of Lamar, SC, David Toney of Hartsville, SC and Herbert Toney of Darlington of Darlington, SC; a special nephew, Jeromy Davis; a spiritual friend, Frandolyn Kennedy; loving stepsons,10 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
