Chanta L. Blount

We regret to inform you of the passing of Ms. Chanta L. Blount.  

 Ms. Blount passed on Monday, November 25, 2024 at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center in Columbia, SC.  

 The family will receive friends at: 

602 Flicker Lane, Hartsville, SC.  

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC.

Chanta L. Blount was born on December 11, 1973, to the union of Betty Bacote and George Blount Jr. Due to the untimely death of her mother, she was raised by her loving adopted parents, Daisy and Clifton Alexander, Sr.

Chanta spent her formative years in the Public Schools of Camden, South Carolina and graduated from Camden High School. She continued her education and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Morris College. Chanta was dedicated to her profession as a Claims Management Supervisor at The Hartford Insurance Company where she recently celebrated her 20-year service anniversary.

Chanta joined Sanders Creek Baptist Church, Camden, SC, at an early age where she used her God-given, angelic voice in praise and was a requested soloist for all occasions.

Chanta later moved to Columbia, SC where she was well-known for her gifts. To know Chanta was to love Chanta. Her heart was as big as her beautiful smile.

Chanta was preceded in death by her birth mothers, Betty Bacote and Ann Elizabeth Bacote-Addison, a sister, Shameka Blount, and a brother, George Blount, III. On Monday, November 25, 2024,  Chanta departed this earthly life. Precious memories remain in the hearts of all who loved her: son, Darius Dizzley Sr.; grandson, Darius Dizzley Jr. and his mother, Feryaal Pervez; father, George Blount, Jr.; sisters: Laraine (Brent) Germaine, Surrett (Rodney) Sanders, Marlice Blount and Sonia Ransom; brothers: Stafford Bacote, NaQuian Addison, Reginald Waiters; adopted sister, Lytease Barksdale; godsisters: Tiesha Belton and Lynette Moses; bestfriends: Benita Perry and Yalonda McClary; and a host of cousins, family, and friends.

A beautiful spirit has taken flight at the call of the Heavenly Father to the mansion prepared for her from the foundation of the earth by an all-wise, loving, all-knowing and just God.
