Bessie L Williams

It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Ms. Bessie L. Williams.

Ms. Williams passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Pelican Health in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis Funeral Home, LLC of Hartsville, SC. 

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Bessie Williams got her wings and went to walk with the angels. Bessie was born February 28, 1924 to Roland and Ella Phillips.

Bessie cared deeply for her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. Bessie’s generosity knew no bounds. Although Bessie is no longer on earth with us, she will live in our hearts forever.

Bessie’s faith was strong, and she loved the Lord. In church, she would always have a bag of mints in her purse to give to the children on Sunday mornings. She did this not out of obligation but because of who she was.

Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Johnson Williams; sons Henry Phillips and J.C. Phillips; sisters and brother Norina Phillips, Minnie McIver and Gene Fed.

Those left to cherish her memories are daughter Mary L. Dubose of Charlotte NC, grandchildren Cassandra Davenport of Augusta GA, Charlina Johnson of Salisbury NC, Charles Phillips of Gastonia NC, Jamie Phillips of Columbia SC, Sargent Phillips, Evelina Sellers, Patricia Hunter, Errol Smith, Pamela Primus, and Kimberly Brown all of Hartsville SC; a host of great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
