It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Alonzo Cannon, 80, of Florence, SC.
Mr. Cannon entered into rest on Monday, May 15, 2023 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
The family will receive friends at 820 Tuskeegee St., Hartsville, SC.
All services are entrusted to Davis Funeral Home, LLC.

Alonzo Cannon was called to his Heavenly home on Monday, May 15, 2023 surrounded by loved ones after an sudden illness. Alonzo surrendered his revered, daily, dutiful roles as dad, granddad, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, neighbor, and friend in the Hartsville/Florence communities for an immortal role with his Lord and Savior.
Alonzo’s early life began on February 10, 1943 in Hartsville, SC. He was born to the late Alonzo Cannon, Sr. and Eliza Lyde Cannon.
Alonzo’s spiritual life and his relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ were the utmost important to him. He attended Centenary United Methodist Church in Hartville, SC.
Alonzo was also a proud member of Butler High and the graduating class of 1962.After serving time in the United States Army, he received an honorable discharge.
Alonzo met and married the late Edith Waller on October7,1967 in New Haven, CT
Alonzo was employed at Stop n Shop in New Haven, CT as a High Lift Operator. He did his work with pride and always strived for excellence and perfection until he retired.
Those who preceded Alonzo in death include his parents: Alonzo Cannon, Sr., and Eliza Lyde Cannon; brother, Wellington Duncan Cannon; sister, Diana Cannon Mitchell.
Alonzo was ushered in the glorious presence of the Lord leaving the following to cherish his memories: daughter, Lisa V. Cannon of New Haven, CT; son, Craig D. (Melissa) Samuel; grandchildren: Marquise Cannon, Tiaira Cannon, Francene Jackson, Ashley Pitt, Craig D. Jett, Allysia Samuel and Allayna Samuel; sisters and brothers: Deloris Cannon Whetstone, James (Namoi) Cannon, Willie (Sharon L.) Cannon, Sharon (Garland) Mann, George (Willie Mae) Cannon and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
