It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Albert Thomas of Darlington, SC.
Mr. Thomas entered into rest on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at his home.
The family will receive friends at: 1665 Greenfield Road, Darlington, SC from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
All services are entrusted to Davis Funeral Home, LLC.
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall
mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
Mr. Albert “Jack” Thomas was born in Darlington County on September 6,
1930, a son of the late Dorsey and Opheila Fields Thomas, Sr.
At an early age, he joined Round O Baptist Church. He later joined Mt. Calvary
Holiness Church until 1994. Later joining Shining Light Pentecostal Holiness
Church where he faithfully served as deacon until a decline in his health.
Albert, “Jack”, Deacon Thomas, Daddy, “Papa” as he was affectionately called by
family & friends enjoyed fishing. He was employed at the Chesterfield Lumber
Company for a number of years and at Galey & Lord in Society Hill until his
retirement.
He was joined in Holy matrimony to Bernetha Washington, this union was
blessed with four children.
Those left to cherish his memory are: a loving son Freddie (Stephanie)
Washington of Las Vegas, NV; two loving daughters Min Brenda (Ronnie)
George and Alberta Cain both of Darlington, SC; a son-in-law Larry Johson;
thirteen grandchildren: Lisa Bennett, Reggie Bennett, DeJuana Washington,
Jermel Johnson, Gaven Johnson, Brad Wester, Tabitha (Adam) Melton, Jamie
Wester, Edwina George, Jessica Wester, Crystal George, Brandy Cain and
Gabrielle Tyler; twelve great grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren
and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Bernetha Thomas; a daughter,
Queen Ester Johnson; a son, James “Pook” Thomas; a daughter-in-law, Ethel
Harrison Thomas; a son-in-law, David Cain, a grandson, Albert Mason
Thomas, his parents, three sisters, Marie Lowery, Azalee Thomas and Pearline
Coe. Three brothers, Dorsey Jr, Hazel and Zellie Thomas.
